Once the knife is positioned on the grinding bar, the optional air clamps allow the operator to begin grinding without the loss of time is required to manually fasten the knife. The air clamps allow the knives to be non-ferrous, non-magnetic material such as carbide faced knives or stellite inlayed pressure bars. A back edge grinder is available to remove the “wire edge”, eliminating the need for laborious hand whetting.
Capital’s knife grinders are available from 76″ (193cm) to 225″ (571.5cm) long, needing to be just 12″ (30.5cm) longer than the longest knife that you grind! The 14″ (35.6cm) segmental grinding chuck allows the operator to grind with flat or concave surfaces, absolutely free of “chatter” marks.
